If you grew up reading those dreary Laura Ingalls Wilder books about life on the prairie, then you know that once upon a time people entertained each other—when they weren't churning butter and slaughtering pigs (Charlotte's Web, it was not). They would play little pipes and do little jigs and make each other little cornhusk dolls and things. I always found that so touching, that people used to create for each other's amusement, to pass the time. And now once again on YouTube we do, and it's free—it's the only popular entertainment that is free, without corporate oversight or editorial control. And you can find out an awful lot about what's going on in the country from reading the comments, especially when they turn ugly and violent.
