Rosebud #335

Stop in the Name of Love!

Well that was a little better (Joe Biden's speech at the Democratic National Convention last night) but I still think the Dems could hit harder... I was interested in Biden's refrain of McCain=More of the Same. It's a pretty obvious slogan, and one which I remember writing in February of this year when I did a post on McCain, inspired by a viral email going around from VoteVets.org. I Googled the slogan, and it seems its genesis was around that time, in early to mid February of 2008. The zeitgeist at work. Like when everybody suddenly names their kid "Emma." Anyway, it's true: McCain will be more of the same, more tax breaks for big corporations, more war. And nobody wants that. I really hope Obama can rein in his ego tonight: last night in his impromptu appearance he was basking like the BMOC after the big game. You haven't won yet, Dems—and in order to win you need to get back to that sacred place where you see this isn't about any of you personally (Hillary), this is about saving the world. And that's why we need Obama, Superhero. Well, again, Biden did a little to that end last night. Meanwhile, Karl Rove and Co. are off in the heartland, tinkering with Diebold machines. I really hope that this time, whatever they do, the Dems will fight back. Fight back!
