"3 Detectives Acquitted in Bell Shooting"

A sad day in America. A sad day in the world. When somebody shoots somebody with one bullet, he's generally in big-ass trouble. But the NYPD—which is shaping up to be New York's biggest and most powerful gang—can gun someone down in a hail of 50 bullets and walk away, vindicated, even congratulated. The New York police now basically have a license to kill. All this while for the first time in American history, a black man is a serious contender for the presidency. Oh, but they're going after him too, from the right and within his own party. I wonder how a lot of white Americans will feel one day when they wake up to President McCain. Maybe a little bit like black Americans feel a lot of the time: so the fix is in.
